Wall Logs & Timbers

Wall log and timber profiles are used for building walls, gables and dormers. We produce (3) style of beautiful wall log profiles in different sizes: ROUND, "D", and TIMBER. A standard for us is to hand peel or hand hewn the logs or timbers to give the home a more natural and beautiful look (we are known for this).

Cutting Method

Wall logs are cut for the project using either our proprietary "Smart Cut" method or random lengths. The "Smart Cut" approach (we do most of the time) allows us a number of very beneficial qualities for you: longer logs, less butt joints, sending multiple trucks with only logs that are needed and a faster build with less waste (builders love this method).

Round Logs

We produce round logs two different ways: "Swedish Cope" logs (more traditional look) (shown above) and "Tongue & Groove" (T&G) logs (more mechanical look). These logs are round on both the interior and exterior of the home and both ways look the same accept for the end of the tails. The "Swedish Cope" and "T&G" is the term used for how the logs join together, this is called "log to log joinery". This log profile is finished off (and we recommend) to either caulk or chink both sides of the wall.

Round Log Specs

LOG DIAMETER SIZES - 8", 9", 10" (most popular), 12", 13"
LOG STACK HEIGHT - 1" less than size (ie: 10" log stacks 9")
LOG WIDTH - full width (ie: 10" log width is 10")
LOG LENGTHS - up to 20' (standard) with the ability to make up to 32' long in Cedar and 50' in Pine
LOG WALL CUT - we can produce the logs for a home in either a random fashion of 8' to 20' lengths or we can cut them using our "Smart Cut" method. A "no butt joint" option is available with this log.
LOG GRADE - wall logs are "TP Wall Log 40 & better", headers, beams etc "TP Premium"

Log Structural Grading (options)

Appearance grade (standard), "TP SRT #1" & "TP SRT #2" (optional)

D Logs

"D" logs are produced with the exterior being rounded and the interior is flat. These are "Tongue & Groove" type of logs. Our 6x8 log has the typical single T&G down the center of the log. The larger sizes us a double T&G with the tongue closest to the exterior pushed to the arc forming a weather bock. This is our "Weather Blok" T&G (shown above) which blocks the weather from touching the flat surface of the log (unique to us and very effective).

D Log Specs

LOG WIDTH - 1/2" less than width (ie: 7"x10" log width is 6 1/2")
LOG LENGTHS - up to 20' (standard) with the ability to make up to 32' long in Cedar
LOG WALL CUT - we can produce the logs for a home in either a random fashion of 8' to 20' lengths or we can cut them using our "Smart Cut" method.

Timber Logs

Timber logs are produced with the exterior and the interior being flat. We profile these logs in a variety of flat designs: channel on exterior with V groove interior (standard) (shown above), channel on both sides, or V groove on both sides. These are "Tongue & Groove" type of logs. The channel design incorporates our "Weather Block" T&G(shown above) which blocks the weather from touching the flat surface of the log and can be either a single or double T&G(depends on the width of the log), The double V groove uses a single or a double T&Gset at the center of the log (typical design).
